October to December
Transfer from El Chaltén to Eléctrico River (30 min drive), where we will start the approach along the Eléctrico valley. After we get to “Piedra del Fraile”, we will head up on very steep trail terrain to the base of the glacier. The campsite is called “Piedra Negra”. Elevation gain is 1000m. Hiking time approx 5hs.
Early start to climb to continue with crampons and rope to the “Paso del Cuadrado” Pass; the views are worth the effort on a clear day! We continue down to traverse the “Inferior Fitz Roy Glacier”, in order to access to the ridge of “Filo del Hombre Sentado” : the views are very unique here, with the west face of Fitz Roy and the East Face of Cerro Torre! Back same way to PIedra Negra Camp in the Afternoon. Hiking time 8-10 hs depending on the snow conditions.
Descent to Piedra del Fraile and back to Rio Electrico Bridge.
Drive back to El Chaltén. Hiking time approx 5hs.
